Should you read Tower of Dawn?

So I have seen people saying that they don't want to read or aren't going to read Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas, the sixth instalment of the Throne of Glass series.

They feel that because it follows Chaol, and not Celaena, then they can skip the book and wait for the final instalment (Kingdom of Ash) to be released later this year.

I personally was going to be one of those people who would skip the book. I didn't want to read about Chaol. I wanted to find out what happens after Empire of Storms, because we all know what happens at the end of the book. But a part of me told me that I should read Tower of Dawn. I wanted to see what would happen to Chaol (trying not to spoil for those who haven't read the series yet).

I know a lot of people went crazy when the cover was revealed for this book, giving hate because it didn't look like the rest of the Throne of Glass books. And I read somewhere that there is a reason behind the cover change. Maas said that because the book follows Chaol and not Celaena she wanted the cover to be different so it would stand out from the rest of the books in the series. If you have read the series then you will know that all the books follow Celaena. Having a different cover makes Tower of Dawn stand out, and thus showing the readers that it does follow a different character.

Before the cover was revealed so many people were raving about it, they were genuinely excited to pick it up. But when it was revealed a lot of this hype disappeared... this really can't have been just about the cover, right?

It probably was, but you should read this book.

In Empire of storm Chaol isn't in the book at all. The last time we see him is in Queen of Shadows... and let's be real we all know how Chaol was left off at the end of that. So based on this, wouldn't you want to read Tower of Dawn just to see what happens to him?

Throughout the series I feel we didn't get to see Chaol as a character and we didn't get to see him without Celaena. This is where Tower of Dawn comes into play. The character development of Chaol was something I enjoyed. If you feel the same way, or you aren't a fan of Chaol, then I suggest you give Tower of Dawn a read as it might change your perspective on him.

Tower of Dawn is the bridging book between Empire of Storms and Kingdom of Ash. You can't skip this book and go straight to Kingdom of Ash without missing some key information that you will probably need to know. The events and characters in Tower of Dawn will probably become important in the final book.

I have read Tower of Dawn, I listened to it as an audiobook, and rated it 5 out of 5 stars. It was amazing! I loved seeing a different side to Chaol and finding out more about his character.

So I think you should read Tower of Dawn for many reasons, and you can't just skip the book and wait of Kingdom of Ash to be released.

Read Tower of Dawn.

I hope this was able to convince those readers who do not want to read it to read it. Just because Celaena wasn't in it doesn't mean that it isn't important and boring.

Happy Reading!
