This review is going to be short, just going to be me telling you how much I enjoyed this book.
This is my second Ness novel. I read Release pretty recently but I enjoyed this book way more!!
And if you didn't know, this book was adapted into a movie last year.
So for those of you who have not heard of this book or haven't seen the movie then here is the synopsis:
Conor has the same dream every night, ever since his mother first fell ill, ever since she started the treatments that don't quite seem to be working. But tonight it different. Tonight, when he wakes, there is a visitor at his window. It's ancient, elemental, a force of nature. And it wants the most dangerous thing of all from Conor.
It wants the truth.
I went into this book thinking that I would not enjoy it but I was so wrong. I loved the story, I loved the concept, I loved seeing Conor's character development... ok I loved everything.
Ness's writing is amazing. When I read Release I was confused a little, but with A Monster Calls I was not. The book was beautifully written! Absolutely beautiful!
I have not seen the movie and I don't plan on it. I watched the trailer and it seems boring. The book is better.
Overall I really enjoyed this and rated it a 5 out of 5 stars, of course because that is all it deserves.
I recommend this book to everyone. It is a quick read so you should finish it quickly.
Happy reading!
